Bloggers who fail to disclose paid reviews or endorsements can face up to $11,000 fines from the Federal Trade Commission, according to a recent agency ruling " Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising” that was issued in October. The news set off a wave of protest and unrest in the blogosphere and the debate goes on.
Here is an excerpt from the October 5th FTC release:
“The revised Guides add new examples to illustrate the long standing principle that 'material connections' (sometimes payments or free products) between advertisers and endorsers–connections that consumers would not expect–must be disclosed. These examples address what constitutes an endorsement when the message is conveyed by bloggers or other 'word-of-mouth' marketers. The revised Guides specify that while decisions will be reached on a case-by-case basis, the post of a blogger who receives cash or in-kind payment to review a product is considered an endorsement. Thus, bloggers who make an endorsement must disclose the material connections they share with the seller of the product or service.”

Why use WordPress as a website? Before I spent some time with the platform I had no idea. Soon I learned that WordPress is much more then just blogging. There are several features that WordPress can offer you that bring it to the next level, and all of these can make your blog look more like a website-blog cyborg every day.PagesThe availability of pages can make your blog more than it ever was before. Pages can add the dimension your blog needs to move to the next step in its online existence. Once you've snagged yourself some of the all-important content, the sky is the limit. The staple page is of course About. This kind of page can really make your blog bring more to the table without cluttering your webhome.Personally, my favorite thing about pages is their ability to give your readers more to click about for. You want your site to be like beef jerky: savory and delicious, with lots to chew over.I would recommend about five pages for a normal blog/website creature. Five keeps it uncluttered, but makes it information filled as well. If you're going to go for less, no worries, just make sure the stuff you put up there is quality {naturally}. I wouldn't recommend going for more unless you know exactly what shenanigans you're going to be up to.ThemesIf you're not going to use WordPress then your going to have to do one of a few things {that is assuming that messing with HTML daily and getting your hands all sticky with CSS isn't your thing}:

SEO, or search engine optimization, is considered as one of the most successful form of internet marketing techniques used by webmasters. However, like other forms of internet marketing, SEO is also known for its malicious methods. Similar to email marketing, spamming has been one of the many problems involving the use of SEO. This is method is known as “Spamdexing”. Spamdexing involves a number of methods, such as repeating unrelated phrases, to manipulate the relevancy or prominence of resources indexed by a search engine, in a manner inconsistent with the purpose of the indexing system.
To counter spamdexing, search engines have used several ways to reduce the effect of spamdexing. One way that Google used is the “nofollow” tag. nofollow is an HTML attribute value used to instruct some search engines that a hyperlink should not influence the link target's ranking in the search engine's index. According to SEO Philippines consultants, it is intended to reduce the effectiveness of certain types of search engine spam, thereby improving the quality of search engine results and preventing spamdexing from occurring.

While syndication has many applications, we will deal specifically with its use for blog content and some technical information will be included at the end of this article.
If you have any interest in blogs or weblogs as a publishing format, then you have undoubtedly come across the term R.S.S.
Under normal conditions, the content of a web page is limited to one domain, and the visitor to it. To allow the use of content on a larger number of sites, syndication is employed.
This is where RSS comes into the equation. A site owner or blogger using his site as a pulpit for any number of topics can make his content available via RSS. Once done, his comments or content will be fed to the news aggregators for syndication/delivery to those interested in such content.
